The rules governing the safety of the cargo
Directive 2014/47/EU on the technical roadside inspection of the roadworthiness of commercial vehicles circulating in the Union refers to a series of technical standards that can be used as a basis for calculating the securing of the cargo. In fact, the standards make it possible to calculate the minimum number of web lashings to be used based on the type and arrangement of the cargo. Or the standards allow to evaluate whether the structural strength of the transport unit walls is sufficient for the securing of the cargo.

The relationships between the main standards
The technical standards referred to in the Directive 2014/47/EU on the technical roadside inspection of the roadworthiness of commercial vehicles circulating in the Union must be used jointly to ensure that the cargo is properly secured. The diagram shows the interrelation between the above listed standards. At the center, we find EN 12195-1 as the main standard.
